Travel Options to Vizag from Different Locations

By air
Vizag is connected by air to Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai,Tirupati,Pune,Kochi and Indore. International flights are on the anvil, a good option in the meantime is to get in via Hyderabad.

By train
Visakhapatnam is on Kolkata-Chennai main line and is connected to both the cities by train. This being a major station, all trains including the super fast expresses have a stop in the station. Visakhapatnam station is in the east coast railways and will be very soon having 10 platforms.The first in east coast railways to have these many platforms.
All platforms can accommodate trains with 28 coaches. Please verify the timings with Indian Railways], since they change from time to time.

From Hyderabad
Godavari Express - departs daily from Hyderabad Deccan Station(Nampally) at 5:15PM and from Secunderabad at 5:45 PM, arrives the following morning in Visakhapatnam at 6AM.

Visakha Express (On route to Bhubhaneswar) - departs daily from Secunderabad Station at 5PM, arrives the following morning in Visakhapatnam at 7AM. This train runs via Nadikudi, Guntur, Vijayawada and Bhimavaram Town.

Falaknuma express(On route to Howrah) - departs daily from Secunderabad Station at 4PM, arrives the following morning in Visakhapatnam at 3:30AM. Faster than the Godavari express. Convenient.

East Coast Express (Hyderabad Deccan-Howrah)

By Road
Visakhapatnam is connected to Chennai and Calcutta via Bhubaneswar and Vijayawada by National Highway 5 (dual-carriageway, 120 km/h).

The Andhra Pradesh State Road Travel Corporation (APSRTC) runs buses from almost every city and town to Vizag, along with some private operators, who run buses from a few of the major cities. Please check with APSRTC for timings. There is also a new Garuda fleet of bus service (Volvo) to Vizag from Chennai, Bangalore, Vijayawada and Hyderabad which is very comfortable and happy going. This is the best way to do it if you want to travel by bus. APSRTC has several other bus services which have varied luxury levels and transit speeds. You might want to check the APSRTC at least 3 days in advance to be sure you have a reservation.

Must watch places in Vizag

Visakhapatnam, or Vizag as it was often called, is the true spot where one can find the beauty of Andhra. Lapped by the Bay of Bengal, on the eastern part of Andhra Pradesh lies the beach city, Vishakapatnam. It is the best tourism destination in Andhra Pradesh. Visakhapatnam has beautiful hill ranges caves,valleys,temples and also from lakes to cool beaches and many more.

Kailasagiri

Kailasagiri is the number one picnic spot in Vizag. Lot entertainment and well maintained places available at this hill top. Cable car and Toy train facility available for kids. The vast view of Bay of Bengal from viewers' gallery is a pleasing experience. In one of the parks sculptures are carved and installed for additional attraction.

Rama Krishna Beach: The Rama Krishna Beach, or RK Beach as it is commonly called, is one of the best tourist spot in Vizag. The beaches of Vizag enthrall the tourists and the clean beaches attract tourists in great numbers. Swimming, sun bathing, playing the beach volleyball or simply sitting under the cool shade of a tree and reading a book are the favorite pastime of many. R.K.Beach is a great picnic spot to spend time with your loved ones. Rama Krishna beach is a favorite beach resort for tourists visiting Vishakhapatnam. Both the Ramakrishna beach presents a picturesque and beautiful scenic beauty. It is Vizag's favorite evening sojourn. An aquarium, the Kali temple, Visakha Museum, Roadside restaurants offering seafood is the other attractions at this beautiful beach.

Simhachalam temple is located within the city limit but at a corner of Visakhapatnam. It is one hour drive from city centers of Vizag. Temple is located at the top of a hill and wide road is there for driving up to the temple. Bus service is available from foot of the hill to the temple premises. Araku valley is a famous hill station of AP. It is located at a distance of 120 KM from Visakhapatnam ( Vizag )is famous for its scenic beauty. Located on the eastern ghats , it has valley, water falls and streams flowing by the side of the train track and roads . The journey to Araku Valley is the most enjoying as the rail passes through tunnels, hill sides and streams. . It is better to go to Araku by train and return by road.
